METAL BOATS
|
| This design has been designed for
steel construction. It has a full displacement hull and can be built as a family cruiser
or as a rugged work boat. The multi-chine hull has provided an excellent overall hull
shape and plating has been calculated to provide easy construction with minimum
wastage. This design was prepared for operators in the North Sea and therefore the
boat had to a rugged and safe sea boat. The full displacement hull makes for economical operation and has been designed to operate around the 7 to 8 kt cruising speed range with a 60 hp engine. Anyone with welding experience should have no problems building this vessel using the full size frame patterns which come with the plans, and the straight forward, step by step instructions. Study plans: These are intended to give you an overview of the particular design and include all available Accommodation plans, Sail plans, Material lists & Construction sheets covering available construction materials. All drawings are to scale and you can take measurements from these plans. There are between 6 and 10 sheets of drawings in the typical study plan package. CLICK HERE TO ORDER STUDY PLANS |

| This Coastworker 30 is being built by Graham in Gympie, Queensland. Inside has already all blasted and primed. When building upside down this is a good thing to have done before turning. The deck can then be made from plates blasted and primed on one side and then the entire outside can be done as one lot after all the welding is finished | |

Rolling the hull over. Plenty of old tires required here. |

Graham is now working on the
engineering, deck and superstructure. We hope to bring you more photos as he progresses towards launch day. |
News from our Australian
office: The only other one I've had like that was for a CW25. That chap had the hull built and turned over 2 weeks after receiving the plans. It was a small engineering shop with two partners, business was slow and so they decided to build themselves a boat. Still 2 weeks is a good effort and it's something that I mention to everyone. I did have reason to ring these men up again last Christmas, 5 months after they had bought the plans and the boat was completely finished. The call had been diverted from their work number to their mobile and they were on the Broadwater with their wives on the boat! |
