The CYBER CATS come in several sizes and choices of building materials and propulsion methods.

Building materials:

Aluminum plans and cutting files.
Fiberglass plans and mold patterns

Power Cat Version.

Diesel power with Regular shaft drive
Diesel / Electric Hybrid

Sailing version.

Regular Cutter rig .
Wind / Sail tower reefable Sail plans.

We  categorize our preferred electric option as Hybrid, and in the electric world, they call it a parallel system - where in an electric motor is fitted between the propeller shaft and a diesel engine.  Either  one (or both) can turn the shaft.  

We feel the benefits are:

1.) Silent operation when desired;  for instance when leaving an anchorage, or a river transit

2.) It uses the diesel's greater power for higher speed as opposed to fitting a large motor and draining batteries VERY quickly.

3.) The electric propulsion motor can serve as a large generator and charge the vessel's batteries.

4.) We have done several studies, and the range of a "all electric" vessel fitted with a generator to charge the propulsion batteries is dependant on the size of the generators' fuel tanks..!   The configuration we are advocating allows for the diesel fuel to directly power the vessel as opposed to going through a generator to batteries to power the vessel.

5.) Lastly, should the batteries or electrical system fail, the vessel still has a diesel engine to power her to port.

 

CYBER CAT POWER & SAILING PLANS

The fiberglass plans will include a 3D hull model from which a proper mold can be milled or built. MOLD Patterns will still be included.  The laminate plans will be more along those we used for the Chinese jobs as they will be easier for a yard to read.

 

The sail plans will include keel and all mast and boom calcs., all rigging calcs. and full details of how to setup the  rig on these Cyber Cats.

 

All sets will include the machinery sheets as per the CAT 1600 did. Commercial vessels or vessels requiring athority review will be quoted.  EMAIL BRUCE FOR QUOTES
