ABOUT DESIGNER: Bruce Roberts-Goodson:
Born in Victoria Australia Bruce was educated at Eltham High School & then studied yacht design through the US based Westlawn Institute of Marine Technology. Bruce entered the marine industry and for several years operated a boat yard in Brisbane where he completed an informal boatbuilding apprenticeship.

In 1966 In Brisbane Australia ... Bruce founded BRUCE ROBERTS YACHT DESIGN in partnership with Andrew Slorach ... Andy is still involved in the business SEE AUSTRALIAN WEB SITE.

In 1972 Bruce opened his US design office. Bruce has since designed a huge range of sail and powerboats that have been built in fiberglass, steel, aluminum and wood epoxy.

In 1972 - 2004 Bruce opened additional design offices in USA, Holland & Ireland

In 2004 - 2009 - Today ... Bruce personally prepares the preliminary plans and supervises his staff of naval architects in Holland, USA, Ireland and Spain; he also finds time to pay regular visits to the various Bruce Roberts Yacht Design offices around the world. Recent projects include a 75ft R/C charter schooner, Voyager 450 R/C steel sailboat (pre-cut steel), Euro 20 m / Waverunner 65 (pre-cut steel ), Trawler 485, Trawler 520, 65 ft wood / epoxy sailboat especially for wheel-chair bound sailor As you can imagine Bruce does not do it all alone and we are pleased to announce that we have added additional Naval Architects to our growing staff.

Bruce in company with his wife Gwenda who have cruised in USA, Canada, Australia, plus many areas of Europe and Scandinavia; currently cruises in European waters. You will find that Bruce will personally answer your email within 24 hours or less !

Also not supported and are in fact BLACK-LISTED are Dolphin boats that are blatant copies of plans originally designed by Bruce Roberts-Goodson. All Bruce Roberts designs built by Fortuna Yachts in South Africa are crude copies of Bruce Roberts designs and are therefore BLACK-LISTED by us. If you are offered these or other OUTDATED & or incomplete plans ... Do NOT waste your money ! If you OWN one of these boats we will be happy to offer you advice but do not consider building one from outdated plans ... there are more up to date designs available at this time.

Please remember - if Bruce's photo is not on the web site you are not dealing with the official design office & your bruce Roberts plan will not be recognised by the designer - also boats built from pirated or stolen plans will be forever black-listed & difficult to re-sell ! everyone considering purchasing a pre-owned Roberts design contacts us for advice so make sure the boat you build is legal !

If you doubt who is the REAL Bruce Roberts .. just count the number of kits and plans offered by Bruce as opposed to others! Check the design dates ! The plans we offer are currently updated plus every year we add at least 6 new designs to the Official Bruce Roberts plan and kits.
